On 21st of April the SIC’s experts conducted a training for eight young people from the 90th High School “General Jose de San Martin” and the Centre’s Youth panel. The theme of the training was how to become a peer trainer on the topic of prevention of sexual exploitation of children online.
A special methodology for preparation of peer-trainers was used for the training. The methodology was developed by the Centre’s experts for the initiative “Youth lead the change”, a part of “The Ability to Change” project of Learning Action Partnership for prevention of sexual exploitation and sexual abuse of children and adolescents coordinated by Bulgarian Family Planning and Sexual Health Association and supported by Workshop for Civic Initiatives Foundation and the Oak Foundation.
The methodology is available as a guide for teachers, youth workers and other professionals working with young people. It could be accessed online or requested as a paper copy by the Centre. The methodology focuses on the principles and methods of the unformal education. It guides the future trainers how to structure a teaching module and to formulate specific, measurable aims, it includes practical modules and exercises to implement during the peer trainings. Examples of training modules on the topic of the prevention of online sexual exploitation of children are also included and the young peer trainers could use them when conducting trainings with children.
