On June 15, the Media Literacy Coalition presented the results of the first national survey on digital-media skills of high school students in Bulgaria (the Bulgarian Safer Internet Centre is one of the founding members and an active participant of the Coalition).
The survey was carried out in partnership with the Centre for Assessment in Pre-school and School Education at the Ministry of Education and Science and with the support of the Active Citizens Fund within the “An Integral Approach to the Development of Students’ Media Literacy” Project.
The event was opened by Maria Gaydarova, Deputy Minister of Education and Science, and the expert discussion was attended by Professor Neli Ognyanova from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, Dr Emanuil Georgiev from the Bulgarian Safer Internet Centre and Ms Akseniya Boneva, Chairperson of the Advisory Council on Media Literacy at the Ministry of Culture.
The survey was conducted among 4300 students across the country. They answered questions in two tests that measure cognitive skills according to the European digital literacy framework DigComp 2.0.
