To celebrate the International Human Rights Day on 10 December 2015, the Council of Europe (CoE), in partnership with the Applied Research and Communications Fund and the Center for the Study of Democracy, are hosting an event to discuss human rights protection in the digital age.
The event will take place in Hilton Hotel, Sofia, from 09.00 to 17.30, on the 10th of December 2015. A draft programme is annexed to this article. The event will be structured around four parts: opening and presentation of the Council of Europe’s Guide to Human Rights for Internet Users, plenary session on some general aspects of human rights in the digital environment, three parallel panel sessions on more specific aspects, plenary session for reporting and discussing the panel sessions’ conclusions, recommendations and next steps.
The list of participants will inculde representatives from the following bodies and organisations: Government, private sector and civil society representatives, CoE, CoE Chairmanship, Bulgarian Ministry of Information Technology and Communications, international NGOs working on digital human rights, Internet private sector including the Bulgarian Association for Information Technologies, Google, Facebook, Microsoft, EuroISPA, Internet Society, human rights on Internet policy makers and experts.
