Members of the Youth panel of the Bulgarian Safer Internet Centre had their first training session on media content creation on 24th of November. Evelina Pavlova-Blagoeva, famous Bulgarian radio journalist and TV host and creator of Teen Station online youth media platform was their first trainer on the subject.
The training session is the first of series of trainings which will be provided to the youngsters within a project of the Bulgarian Safer Internet Centre and “The Voice of Children” Foundation with the support of Telenor Bulgaria. The project will focus on empowerment of young people to create their own positive online media content. The members of the Bulgarian SIC’s Youth panel will also form a content creation team and will upload their own materials on Teen Station youth platform. Thus, the youngsters can develop theirs skills related to one of the most important components of digital and media literacy (DML) which is content creation. Within the trainings a particular session on DML and its interconnected components will be also provided and the young people will have the opportunity to develop all digital and media skills.
The project for trainings on media content creation and participation of SIC’s youth panelists as team which will create and upload materials on Teen Station youth platform has been presented as a youth participation scenario at BIK Youth mini-site.
Thefirst training session on media content creation was focused on podcast. The youngsters had practical exercises and also received a task to create their own materials for the youth platform. Each trainee had the opportunity to choose a subject of their own personal interest. The young panelists’ materials will be published here.
The training session also included work on the Youth panel’s campaign #YouAreTheHero promoting positive online behaviours and countering using hate speech online and Cyberbulling. The campaign video had been shot a week before the training in partnership with Evelina Blagoeva and Boyko Shtonov as a director. As authors of the script, youngsters had the opportunity to watch the raw video material and give their feedbacks and recommendations. The campaign video will be presented for a first time at Safer Internet Day 2019 (5th of February).
