The conference "How to Teach Media Literacy at School - Methods and Practices", which took place on November 10th in Sofia, provided an opportunity to more than 80 teachers from all over the country to get acquainted with practice-tested methodologies for media literacy training for students from 1st to 12th grade. The first of its kind conference was co-organized by the Media Literacy Coalition in Education, the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom, the Center for Safe Internet, and the Bulgarian-American Commission for Educational Exchange Fulbright.

What have in common “Blue whale”, “Momo”, “Doki doki” and “DELETED”? All four excite the children and teens’ imagination, increase drastically the appetite for auditorium of careless media and provoke panic among parents.

55 schools in 36 towns, cities and villages in Bulgaria participated in the first campaign “Media Literacy Days 2018”, co-organised by the Bulgarian Safer Internet Centre and the Coalition for digital and media literacy at schools.

More than 50 people, including children and teenagers from 5 to 12 grade, teachers, representatives of various institutions and organisations, gathered at the Museum of Science “Muzeiko” in Sofia on 6th of February to mark the 15th Safer Internet Day.

The Bulgarian Safer Internet Centre launched a new mobile application to mark the 15th International Safer Internet Day. The application provides quick access to the SIC's Helpline and Hotline. It also has a password strength checker and provides a test to check one's knowledge about safer use of internet, as well.

The training programme “Cyberscout of the Bulgarian Safer Internet Centre was ranked 9th in the European Crime Prevention Award competition which was conducted in December 2017.

A national representative survey “Online Experiences of Children in Bulgaria" conducted by the Bulgarian Safer Internet Centre was in focus at a conference organized by UNICEF Bulgaria and the State Agency for Child Protection (SACP) which took place on 14th of December 2017 in Sofia. Clara Sommarin, a child protection specialist on Exploitation and Violence at UNICEF Headquarters, presented the global report “The State of the World’s Children 2017: Children in a Digital World “ which includes data from the Bulgarian survey.

The Cyberscout Training Programme of Bulgarian Safer Internet Centre was nominated for European Crime Prevention Award (ECPA) and will be presented on 14th of December in Tallinn, Estonia.
