Like in the rest of the word, the international Safer Internet Day will be marked in Bulgaria on 9 February 2016 for the 13th consecutive time. As originally proposed by the European Commission, every second Tuesday of every second month each year public attention is drawn towards safer and more responsible ways for children and young people to use Internet and mobile devices.

On the 10th December 2015, on the Human Rights Day, an international conference on the topic of human rights of Internet users was held in Sofia. The event was organized by the Applied Research and Communications Fund, the Center for the Study of Democracy and the Council of Europe and dedicated to the Bulgaria's Chairmanship of the Council of Europe.
