In the complicated pandemic situation many schools in Bulgaria faced an additional problem – lack of teachers as dozens of them fell ill or are in quarantine.
In cooperation with the Innovative Teachers Network and in coordination with the Ministry of Education the SIC developed and launched an online platform for substitute teachers. Any person with the necessary qualifications can register at the platform providing information of qualification, subjects to teach, to which classes and in which region/town.
Schools principals, after registration on the platform, can place requests for substitute teachers and receive notifications when a candidate for substitute teacher wants to respond to the request. Then the school principal contacts directly the candidates to verify the qualification and to make a choice.
The platform integrated a list of retired pedagogues provided by the Ministry of Education. The online platform can substantially reduce the time needed to find substitute teachers for the schools that need them.
