On 20th January, the Advisory board of the Bulgarian Safer Internet Centre (SIC) approved by email voting the annual public report about the activities of the SIC in 2020.
The past year was extremely challenging due to pandemic situation, lockdowns and schools closures. Dozens of planned events and trainings of children, teenagers, teachers, parents and carers had to be cancelled. Some of them could be conducted in the form of webinars but the most effective for a training, and especially with children, are the face-to-face sessions.
The complicated situation though did not influence the work of the internet Hotline and Helpline. The received and processed 17 855 reports out of which 17 081 were for child sexual abuse material. 680 of the total reports were transmitted to the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior and 17 026 were forwarded to other INHOPE Hotlines.
In 2020, the Helpline responded to 459 quieries concerning cyberbyllying, sexual harassment, sextortion, privacy.
