On 28th and 29th of April, experts from the Bulgarian Safer Internet Centre organised a training for 25 young people aged 14-18 years on the topic of the prevention of online sexual exploitation of children. The participants are volunteers at Directorate “Preventions” – Varna and were trained to become peer trainers.
The methodology for the training was developed by the Centre’s experts for the initiative “Youth Lead the Change”, a part of the “The Ability to Change” project of the Learning Action Partnership for prevention of sexual exploitation and sexual abuse of children and adolescents coordinated by Bulgarian Family Planning and Sexual Health Association and supported by Workshop for Civic Initiatives Foundation and the Oak Foundation.
The methodology developed by the Bulgarian SIC’s experts implements interactive methods in order to present the principles and methods of informal education. It also includes examples on how to prepare a teaching module and how to formulate specific and measurable teaching aims. The methodology includes four ready to use training modules on the topics – prevention of sexual exploitation of children online, cyberbullying, sexting, interacting with a stranger who may have sexual intentions.
The methodology is available as a handbook with printed and online versions.
